Founding The Bitter Truth

This adventure began in June 2006, during a visit to the London Bar Show. It was there that bartenders Stephan Berg and Alexander Hauck came up with the idea to manufacture and distribute Bitters, since they were hard to find both in Germany and elsewhere.

Stephan and Alexander already had experience in the artisanal production of Bitters for the bars where they worked. However, Stephan had a vast collection of bitters, from the oldest to the most modern, some of which had been out of production for a long time.

The selection of the best flavors was based on old cocktail recipes that were no longer reproducible due to the lack of a key ingredient.

 

Cocktail Bitters

The Bitter Truth’s Bitters are specially designed to reproduce classic drinks accurately or to explore new concoctions. They have already received numerous awards and want to continue to revolutionize this industry.

Three types of Bitters are available: Aromatic (Chocolate, Jerry Thomas, Aromatic, Creole and Bogart’s), Fruity (Orange, Grapefruit, Lemon and Peach) and Salty (Cucumber, Celery and Olive). 

They have created several special editions for various clients, including the Burj Al Arab Hotel Dubai and The Savoy Hotel London, and also for well-known spirits brands such as Beefeater, Santa Teresa, Bar Convent Berlin, and the Havana Club.

The Bitter Truth offers a variety of Liqueurs and Spirits with flavors ranging from classic to well-known and some rare types.

The mission to find the best flavors is not only limited to the fascinating “land of bitterness”. Some of the finds are sweet and smooth, others are inspired by nostalgia, and some are still at the peak of innovation.
